I have lived around the globe and seen my fair share of cities, and one thing is for certain, San Francisco is one of the best! There is so much to do, see, eat, drink! You name it, San Francisco has it!
I have stayed at many hotels but within the last few years, there is only one place I will stay when I go to the city to visit. That is the Hyatt Regency Emabarcadero. If you love luxury, like I do, luxury is what you’ll get!

This hotel sits directly across from the Port of San Francisco with views of famed Clock tower and the Bay Bridge. Union Square (infamous for shopping) is within walking distance from the hotel, as well as a lot of incredible restaurants. You can also walk down the Embarcadero to Fisherman’s Wharf to see the seals and get the world renowned clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. Or, you can take a ferry over to Alcatraz for some history and great photo ops!
Why do I like this Hyatt? The main reasons are the customer service, the bar, and the amenities. Of all the times I have stayed there, I have never been disappointed. Although San Francisco is very familiar to me, this hotel treats me like I am home; they don’t know that I was born and raised there.
In my post, why traveling is good for your mental health, going somewhere that makes you happy and relieves your stress is key. This hotel, ensures that every time. All of the staff always go out of their way to make sure that my party and I are taken care of and am not needing for anything. This is something I absolutely value and look for in a hotel.

Oh, the bar! As you can see from this picture above, the bar area is grand. While this is a fully-stocked bar and there is a wide array of flavors, their signature cocktails are top-notch. My most recent visit, I had Karl the Fog and the Bourbon Smash and they were amazing! The bar food is done to perfection, as well. I can’t quite remember what I had to eat but I know I was satisfied!
As for the amenities, there is everything that you can think of. They even offer yoga mats and weights to have in your room during your stay! You better know that of course I used them! The valet and concierge service is top notch! Literally, the only thing missing from this hotel is a pool.
Here is a bit of history for you:
Originally designed by famed architect John Portman in 1973, Hyatt Regency San Francisco is an iconic and well known fixture on San Francisco’s famed Embarcadero. Hyatt Regency San Francisco boasts the world’s largest hotel lobby—encompassing 42,000 cubic feet and the ‘Eclipse‘ sculpture by Charles O. Perry—and will continue to stun the public with its new design, which draws inspiration from San Francisco’s history and ever evolving culture. John King described the building as a “temple of hermetic urbanism” in a “self-contained sci-fi” style that by 2016 had become “dated”, albeit remaining “still visually dazzling, in a futuristic sort of way.”[4] The Regency Club Lounge was once the Equinox, a rooftop revolving restaurant, but is now a stationary elite club for certain hotel guests offering 360-degree views of the city and the bay. The atrium holds the Guinness world record (as of 2012) for the largest hotel lobby.
Four of the hotel’s 45 gorgeous suites have been transformed into themed Luxury Suites, inspired by four famous San Franciscans who are well-known leaders in technology, music, photography and acting. Each suite offers a completely unique design tailored with finishes, furnishings, and art that create distinct atmospheres influenced each famous San Franciscan. For example, one themed Luxury Suite is styled with a stark white and grey color palette and minimalistic modern details, while another showcases a dramatic tie-dyed wall, macramé drapery, and funky decorative accessories. All 45 suites have some of the most stunning views of San Francisco, quite unlike any other view from other vantage points in the city.
Have you ever stayed here? Is this somewhere you would like to stay? Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
