3 Great Ways To Stay In Awesome Travel Shape

3 Great Ways To Stay In Awesome Travel Shape
Traveling the world!

Travel is hard on the body, and can be hard on the mind too. This isn’t to say that daring to travel will do you any long term harm, in fact it can be quite the opposite, as expanding our horizons, getting exercise while walking around from place to place, and enjoying ourselves away from the hustle and bustle of daily life can be very nourishing; especially when implementing 3 Great Ways To Stay In Awesome Travel Shape.

That said, travelling long distances can take its toll in ways that we might not recognize to begin with, and so it’s important to replenish ourselves as we arrive and maintain our health throughout our experience. This way, you can return in a great mood, ready to do it all over again.

Of course, it’s also important to offset some of the vices that are involved in travelling, such as drinking all day on a beach, or indulging in plenty of high-carb food.

In this post, we’ll discuss a few great methods of retaining your travel shape, helping you feel and look better while at home, as well as when you’re exploring all of the gorgeous surroundings this world has to offer.

3 Great Ways To Stay In Awesome Travel Shape:

Stretching & Resistance Workouts

It’s good to stretch when you’re not travelling. This will keep you spry, keep your joints and muscles flexible, and can help you avoid injuries by strengthening your body as necessary.

Purchasing heavy duty resistance bands for home use can also help you more easily stretch with a little bit of resistance, helping you build strength, iron out the kinks, and work on joints that might otherwise be weak, such as a sore rotator cuff that isn’t quite as strong thanks to an injury you suffered in your teenage years.

Meditation & Focus Exercises

Travelling from place to place, eating a range of food, indulging in a few drinks, meeting a whole host of people, learning new things about different cultures, this is all wonderful but it can make you feel dizzy and a little scatter-brained at time. For this reason, it’s important to have time to take that break mentally.

We’d recommend meditating to the degree that you can, ten minute sessions are often best. Just focus on your breathing through your nostrils with your eyes closed, and if your mind wanders, don’t chastise yourself, carefully return your focus to your breath. Regularly keeping up with this practice will help you get better at it, and will improve your focus.

A Great Sleeping Schedule

Sleeping Schedule

It’s hard to commit to a good sleeping schedule when traveling because… well, you can quite easily measure the money you spent on a vacation or expedition in terms of how much worthwhile time you got out of it. There’s a financial and experiential incentive to staying up late, burning the candle at both ends. But you don’t have to do that.

Disciplining yourself to retire to bed at a similar time, getting naps when you need it and waking up at the same time each morning can help you feel more adjusted and connected, and will ultimately allow you to enjoy those indulgent nights from time to time without much in the way of awful consequences.

  1. Great tips! I can definitely relate to not getting enough sleep at home or while traveling! Napping is one of the last things I want to do while traveling, but when I do take one it goes a long way with helping me enjoy the rest of the day! Maybe a more regular sleep schedule at home would help for my next trip

  2. Love this! It can be so easily to get worn down whilst travelling! I recently got back from a 3 week trip around Spain and although I thought I was taking it easy I was exhausted! Great tips!

  3. I love this! It’s so easy to overindulge when traveling. I’m trying to be better at staying mindful of allowing my body to rest and not hitting the sites (and drinks/food) too hard. Great recommendations!

  4. I recently got some resistance bands and I love how easy they are to throw in a suitcase! A good workout for such little space 🙂

  5. Great ideas thank you!!
