How to form healthy habits

Habit (n): An acquired mode of behavior that has become nearly or completely involuntary. For example, I now wake-up at 5 AM every morning and work out and when I am finished, I make my bed.

I didn’t always do this, but it is now a habit that has formed over time with consistency and determination of wanting to meet goals and be in the best mind set for the day. I am coming to learn that the little things that we can control have a huge impact on those things we can’t control.

If you are finding yourself wanting to become the best version of yourself but you don’t know where to start, start small. Seriously, small consistent steps equal large healthy success.

When I started my journey, I picked one thing and started with that; weight watchers. I knew I needed to start in the kitchen and go from there. I also knew that I had tried keto, paleo, cutting out carbs, etc., and nothing stuck.

Ater doing research, I wanted a lifestyle change that would work with my life and that was weight watchers. I can still be me, I just am learning how to eat the right portions, track everything, and count those non-scale victories. So far, I am down 30 pounds in a little over two months and this is just a part of who I am now. It started as a small thought and has developed into a daily healthy habit. Honestly, if I don’t track, I don’t feel my best.

I am in no way saying it is easy, but as you continue to do these daily, it gets easier. I also make a conscious effort to every day be happy and when I find myself thinking something negative I stop and turn it into a positive. Or, I find ways to think, what is it that I need to do to make this a positive?

I came up with this list of things to do daily in which you can start building good habits. I can honestly say, I do all of them. Maybe not in the order on the list, but I do them. I make my bed every morning. I workout every day. I eat well. I drink water. I practice gratitude. I tell someone I love them. And most of all, I do something every day that gets me one step closer to my goals and while I am doing that, I learn something new.

Life is about living. It is short.

But you my dear, hold the power to make it the best it can be. No need to wait for someone to save you, cause they probably aren’t coming. Why not be the best version of yourself that you can be?!
